Log Homebuilding and Basement Windows

Log Home Construction

If you have started log home construction, then there are a few things you should know before you get in too deep in the building of your home. There are problems which will arise as you go along and you must be prepared for them, such as the weather. This is probably one of the biggest drawbacks in construction and in construction time is money. Every week your house-sits with nothing being done will cost you money in interest. The best time to plan for the building of your home is ideally for summer to ensure that the walls are up, the roof is on and the basement windows are installed before winter arrives. This will save you big time in the future.

Another factor when building your cabin is to have easy access for the machinery that will be coming onto your property. This not only applies to your property, but you should check for any bridges that may not take big trucks and machinery going over it. This is very important as you will need access for delivery trucks and at least a fork lift.

If you are planning on getting all your material delivered at once, then you better plan for a space to store them, as they will have to be stored in out of the weather. Then, besides this, you will need some dumpsters for any waste material and potties for the construction crew. There will also be cost for the power that is used during your construction. The power company may forgive a few days, but after that you will be expected to pay. You can make arrangements to have the power company erect a temporary power panel to meet your needs.

These are just a few of the things that you have to plan when your considering building a cabin. You will find it is well worth the planning once your home is completed and you're sitting out on the deck just soaking up that rustic feeling that these type of cabins give.
