Fort Myers has changed drastically over the past 5 years and there really never has been a better time to relocate to the Southwest Coast of Florida. First of all, prices have never been lower. After prices skyrocketed from 2004 through 2006, the market eventually took a tumble which has ultimately changed the housing situation and prices dramatically in 2009. So yes, there are incredible deals to be had. And if you're relocating from up North, you just may be shocked at how far your dollar will go.
The second reason why this is a fantastic time to move to Fort Myers is because of the recent building and development "boom." With all the influx of new people (the West Coast is still MUCH less populated than the East Coast) there has been a rush to meet the demands. So the good news here for you is NEW CONSTRUCTION. In other words, everything is beautiful! New supermarkets, new shopping centers, new restaurants..etc You name it, it's here! The two newest and most popular town centers include Gulf Coast Town Center in South Fort Myers near Florida Gulf Coast University and Coconut Point which is in Estero (5-10 South of Fort Myers) Both of these areas include everything from shopping to state of the art movie theatres, restaurants and even very active night life. Both areas are unusually large with a Spanish Mediterranean theme. They both have a large bookstore (Barnes and Noble or Borders) and are the perfect place to meet friends for lunch or spend a fun evening with friends and family. You'll definitely want to take note of these hubs in Fort Myers...
